Submission Guidelines (Open 30th April – 30th July)

Submissions are now open!

Poetry

We’re looking for a wide range of poetry styles, including but not limited to free-verse, experimental works, haiku, haibun and related forms along with just about any other style or form out there. If you’re not sure whether what you’re doing is a fit – please query first.

Dates:

Submissions open Monday 30^th April

Submissions close Monday 30^th July

Response Time:

Our response time will be between 3-6 months after receipt of MS, depending on the amount of submissions received.

Publication:

If your work is accepted and you agree to the terms of contract, publication date will be within 6 months from the signing of contracts.

As experienced writers and editors, we will assist any successful applicants in the polishing of their work to the highest standard and afterwards, we’ll push as hard as we can to get your work not only out there, but read too.

Recently, Close-Up has published the following poetry titles – Magpie Tales and The Frequency of God.

 

MS Submission Guidelines:

• Minimum 40 pages.
• Electronic subs only.
• Please submit single-spaced document in 12-pt ‘plain’ font.
• Word document or PDF preferred.
• Please include an acknowledgements page listing details of previously published pieces with your submission.
• Please also include a short bio note.

Fiction

Mostly, we’re looking for stories that fall under the wide umbrella of ‘speculative fiction’ including but not limited to fantasy, science-fiction and horror and the various sub-genres, steampunk, cyberpunk, near-future, epic fantasy, low fantasy etc etc

But please note we’re also open to other genres too!

We love fast-paced, plot-based stories as much as we love the stuff that focuses a little more heavily on character and are certainly not averse to something more eclectic, so if you’re not sure whether what you’re doing is a fit for Close-Up Books – please query first.

Generally speaking, we’re looking for manuscripts that fall within the range of a 20k -150k word count. (This might be novels, novellas or short fiction collections etc)
